City & Guilds - Creative Computing into Stitched Textiles
This course arrives on a CD that contains clear guidance about the organisation and step-by-step explanations about how to use a paint program for first timers. Three illustrated Modules take you through key points about line, colour and texture from real materials to the virtual materials of a computer paint program. In each Module the empty, on screen page soon becomes a page full of ideas and an inspiration for stitching with your favourite technique.
The first CD contains instructions and exercises for Module 1 that is then sent to the tutor for assessment before Module 2 is sent to you.
The course consists of several exercises to illustrate how line, colour and texture can be used. When you have worked through the exercises they are printed out, trimmed, mounted and presented in a Workbook with your own comments. Twelve computer printouts from different exercises must be shown and two of the designs are developed further for stitch. The stitch technique is your own choice. During the course the exercises are sent to the tutor for assessment by e-mail or on CD. At the end of the course the completed Workbook is sent to the tutor for assessment.
The course could be completed in a total of 30hrs but this will be spread over a period of time. The course can be taken at your own pace but if you need to spend more that six weeks on a Module tutor contact must be made. You may wish spend more time on the exercises for each Module if you are new to computing and need to practice using a paint program, also the stitch technique may be slow. The City & Guilds registration expires after one year. The course can be presented any time during the year.
The total course fee is £225 but does not include postal charges for the return of work.
This is a City & Guilds 7722 Level 1 - 30 hour course.
