Feel free to e-mail the editor with any ideas you have for articles, or to say that you have an article ready for submission or any queries you may have relating to writing an article for Design-IT (editor@ctdg.co.uk)
* Save the text as text only (.txt) or as a Microsoft Word document (.doc)
if possible.
* Save the images as tiffs or jpegs with as high a resolution as possible.
* I would prefer the text and images to be posted on a CD but will accept e-mail submissions, especially from authors who live overseas.
* Include a printout (hard copy) of your article (text and images).
* The first paragraph should be a short introduction to the article, including saying which program and version you are using and whether on a PC or Mac, and any other relevant technical details.
* The last paragraph should be a short summary.
* The length of the article is not critical, long articles may possibly be split over two issues. About 600 words with images is good for a 2-page article but this is only a very rough guide.
* The editor reserves the right to adjust the text for clarity and to correct spelling and grammar if necessary, and to omit illustrations if essential for space, but she will endeavour to keep the author’s style of writing and the article intact.
* No dialog about editing decisions will be entered into and the editor reserves the right to not publish any article which she considers unsuitable for Design-IT.
* It is important that illustrations are included: screenshots of dialog boxes, tools used, images of work in progress, the finished design or stitched piece, etc. Keep your intended audience in mind: beginners, experienced, and so on: it is a good idea to state your intended level in your opening paragraph.
* Illustrations can be in black and white or colour and should be numbered Fig 1, Fig 2, etc and these numbers should also be used for references within the text. Please save all illustrations as separate files, preferably in tiff format (no compression) for PC.
* Remember to include a short biography of yourself.
* After publication, you will be paid for your article by cheque (£25 per page or pro rata for part page), and all discs will be returned to you.
* The copyright of the designs and content of the article rest with the author, but the copyright of the Design-IT magazine as a whole belongs to the CTDG.
