TRY THIS PROJECT 2.
This is a simple, no frills project using Adobe Photoshop Elements that avoids lengthy explanations as to how, why or what. If you enjoy the process why not try our projects with greater detail found in our Publications section.

METHOD:

Open your Adobe Photoshop Elements. If you have a newer version, go to the Editor section.

Your screen should look a bit like this (see left).

A range of tools are in the vertical bar.

Other useful headings are along the top.

Go to File>New to open a new file of any size

Right click on the Line Tool.

If this icon is not showing look for any of the others in this short list and right click on it to show the hidden list.

Then left click on the Custom Shape Tool.

At the top of the page choose any shape by clicking on the little black arrow near the word Shape.

A drop-down menu full of shapes will appear. Click on one.

To choose a colour click in the swatch next to ‘color’.

A drop down menu opens up. Choose a colour.

With the mouse, click in your canvas window, holding down your mouse button, drag the mouse then release the button. This will stretch a shape across your file. The shape may fall off the edge of your file, this may be an advantage.

Repeat this click and drag method of creating further custom shapes.

Different Sizes: Shapes of various sizes can be created by dragging the mouse varying distances, the longer the stretch the bigger the shape.

Distorted Shapes: The shape can be distorted by dragging diagonally.

Changing the Colour: The colour of a shape can be altered by returning to the ‘color’ text mentioned earlier and picking another hue.

Changing the Shape: The shape can be changed at anytime by picking another from under ‘shape’ near the top of your screen.
